Tiger JK and Yoon Mirae To Make A Comback!

2 Oct

Favorite couple in KPop is making preparations to have a dual comeback! Seeing as Yoon Mirae(aka Tasha or T) and Tiger JK are seniors in the Korean Hip-Hop scene, I am pretty exciting to hear their new material. The two have been pretty inactive in the past couple years due to them both taking a break from the industry to have and raise their adorable son Jordan.

However, Yoon Mirae took a step back into the Kpop world by featuring in “Turnd Off TV” by Leessang.

For those who don’t really know much about the two, here’s a little bit of background information.

Tiger JK is a Korean-American rapper often associated with the group he lead called Drunken Tiger (a group of musicians consisting of: DJ Shine (former member), DJ Jhig, Micki Eyes, and Roscoe Umali)

He also is the founder and CEO of Jungle Entertainment. His first album Call Me Tiger was released in 1992. In 1999, Drunken Tiger released Year of the Tiger which was quickly banned due to some explicit content and its “rebellious nature (lol).

Due to the high level of racism he experienced while living in Los Angeles, created Drunken Tiger with a vision to end the racial tension that existed between African-Americans and Koreans ( i.e. 1992 Los Angeles Riots)

In 2006, Tiger JK was diagnosed with transverse myelitis in 2006 which basically halted his career for a period of two years. The group has continued to release amazing albums for over a decade, with their last album being Feel gHood Muzik from which all 27 tracks placed in Top 100 K-Pop Singles charts.

Yoon Mirae (whose real name is Tasha Reid) is an African-American-Korean rapper and singer who was born in Portland, Texas. At age 16, she debut with the group Uptown, and then went on to promote as a duo named Tashannie. She was also part of the hip-hop crew, Movement, which includes bartists such as Epik High, Leessang, Dok2, Paloalto, Double K, and Dynamic Duo.

Afterward, she debut as a solo singer/rapper under the stage name T. In 2008 and 2009, she won Best R&B/Soul album and Best R&B/Soul. As a soloist, Tasha released 5 albums: As Time Goes By (2001) Gemini (2002) To My Love (2002) Best (2003) Yoon Mi Rae (2007)

Tiger JK married Yoon Mirae in 2007 and the couple had their first son, Jordan, in 2008.

Definitely check out these two amazing musicians as they get ready for their debut!
