EXO:There Is Hope for KPop

5 Jan

So during my daily scouring of the web for kpop news, I came upon something that literally took my breath away.

Umm, so who is this guy and why isn’t he by famous now? After listening like 40 more times, I did a little bit more research and it turns out that he is a member of SM’s soon-to-debut boy group: EXO.

Although the four members of EXO are yet to debut, SM’s fantastic marketing strategy has already gained the group thousands of supporters. A teaser of member Kai managed to rack up 80,000 views and even make it to the front page of YouTube. They made their semi-official debut at the SBS Gayo Daejun along with label mates: SNSD, Super Junior, f(x), and SHINee among others.

You can see some of the clips here

I’m seriously excited for this group. There is so much talent within this one group. How many many Kpop groups can boast a legitimate martial artists, a singer who should be on Broadway, members who are fluent in Korean and Mandarin, and dancers who can dance alongside Eunhyuk and not break a sweat? From their individual teasers (all of which feature Kai with an exception of Tao’s), it’s apparent that all of the boys are extremely skilled.

Tao’s Teaser

Tao

Tao’s teaser featured his badass martial arts skills which is something I haven’t ever seen in Kpop before. The guy is basically a ninja in my book. I can already tell that this is going to make for some pretty awesome performances and MVs. I’m exited 🙂

Lu Han’s Teaser

We don’t really get much on Lu Han except that he is 21 years old, a “flower boy”, and possesses strong vocals. He’s a pretty strong dancer as you can see from his stage with Eunhyuk, Taemin, Donghae and Jonghuyn.

KAI’s Teaser(s)

Kai has been introduced by SM as the “dancer” of the group. He’s 17 years old and has studied ballet, jazz, hip hop, popping, and locking. Although it’s clear that the guy is talented, is all the pretty boy splashing in puddles really necessary??? And I also don’t see why he gets a gazillion pictures(literally) and videos(5) solely focusing on him released, while Lu Han and Tao get one video a piece (in Lu Han’s teaser, Lu Han is essentially featuring in it while Kai is the main attraction).

*UPDATE: SM just uploaded another video of Kai on their Youtube channel. They are seriously going to get this guy antifans if they keep this up**

I also don’t see why SM is holding back on Chen aka Opera Boy when he’s the one I’m the most curios about.

Alright SM, although I hate to admit it I’m hooked. Let’s see what EXO has got for us in the future

I think that Kai has the most videos, cus they think he’ll be the most popular…Why? Maybe cus he looks like Taemin who is popular….But personally im leaning more towards Tao:)
